Jacqueline Paige is a world class multi-tasker being a mother to five adventurous and unpredictable children, a cafe manager and having a colossal imagination that allows her to step outside of reality into a world of paranormal romance —with just a touch of suspense.
Jacqueline lives in Ontario, Canada and avoids the ever changing weather of the region she lives in by creating other worlds to fall into in her stories of all things paranormal.
Her first book was published in 2009 and since then has published ten. She is always writing and currently has more than a dozen stories in one stage or another of the writing process.

Do you plan everything or just let the story flow?
I'd like to pretend I'm organized and in total control, but I'd be delusional if I believed it. I do try to plan out a story, but it never works out. Basically in the end I'm just as surprised by the story as anyone that reads it for the first time.
My characters do take over the story! They rarely do what I want them to do and if I can make the main characters behave close to the way I want them to, then the secondary characters that are supposed to be more in the background than anything else end up jumping off the page and then before I know it I have to plan a second story for them.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I am most definitely a night owl, which isn't working out well with my job lately. Last year I planned my shift to start around 9 or 10am and it worked well for the whole 'not sleeping' thing, but for the last seven months I've had to be on the early bake shift and getting up at 3:30 am! Let me just say there are some days where I'm crawling right to my bed when I get home in the early afternoon.
Do you listen to music while writing?
Most of the time I do. When I first started writing I plugged in the ear phones and cranked the volume to block out my kids and other persistent noises around me. It wasn’t long after that when I realized that the song I was listening to affected what my characters were doing and where the story was heading. I also discovered that when I was in a mediocre frame of mind and wasn’t overly enthused with writing at the particular moment that the right song would spur me on and create the energy I needed. An example for that is Finger Eleven – Paralyzer . Try listening to that full volume in your ears and see if you can still sit there feeling ‘meh’ with what your doing.
My last release is Heart it's the first book in the Animal Trilogy. This is my first time writing a shifter story and I think I probably broke every unwritten rule while doing it. Thankfully the readers are loving it, so I won't be flogged this time around.
Heart is a story about a woman that has her whole life thrown into chaos. Rayne finds out that her fiance isn't at all the man she thought he was, to the point where she packs up and leaves, going as far away as she can manage. Up until this point her life has been very sheltered and controlled by those around her.
When she finds herself up in the middle of nowhere in Northern Canada, alone, she has more than a few moments learning how to deal with the new situation she's put herself in. A large part the 'moments' she finds herself dealing with is a result of the owner of the land she's chosen to hide on.
Devin owns a deserted campground and prefers to be completely alone, not being fond of people or company. He's really there hiding from the responsibilities and expectations of his family and his community. When he discovers the annoying woman that invaded his peace is actually his mate, things get complicated.
What have you learned about writing and publishing since you first started?
Well, first, you really have to like your own stories. By the time you write them, proof them (about 10 times), submit them, go through the editing process (several rounds of the editing process in most cases), write blurbs and promotional pieces ... you usually never want to read that story ever again! :)
Other than that, I have discovered that it's a lot of hard work and it never ends. I now completely understand the cliche "starving artist" as well. On the other side of that though I have learned it is a lot of fun and can be very humbling when a reader contacts you and enjoys all of your hard work.
I don't think so. Not realistically at least. Winning the lottery and quitting my day job that interferes with me hiding for days on end in my writing cave might be something I'd try. Of course if that happened I'd also have a much larger, fancier writing cave too.
Anything you would say to those just starting out in the craft?
Yes. Just keep writing. You may not be ready to submit anything right now, but the more words you write and stories you complete will lead you to that point where you finish the one that you just have to share. Don't give up.
What are three words that describe you?
I actually cheated for this and asked the kids, because tired, exhausted and cranky didn't seem like good words.
