Author Interview: Carla Golian

About the Author:

Carla Golian has always considered herself a poet or a poetess, since she began writing poetry at a young age. Her first series of writings were all love poems to all the members of her family. It was a Dream of hers, to one day publish a book of poems and to write a novel. She has accomplished this with her first publication, "Dreams of Love".

Love, Passion, Dreams and Journeys would best describe Carla.

She is of Armenian descent living in Los Angeles.   Do you plan everything or just let the story flow?

So far, I’ve written only short stories, and I didn’t plan any of them. The stories were alive in me, so they just flowed out.

Do your characters ever want to take over the story?

Usually not, because they are not aware they are in a story.

What is your favourite food?

Hmmm, I love Tuna… Seafood, Sushi. I eat lots of fresh foods, salads and legumes. I love Bananas, Mangoes, Persian cucumbers, red onions and Italian yummy pastas.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Both. It depends on the day and mainly my mood. I love sleeping and dreaming. Some days if I stay awake past a few hours over my usual sleeping time, I start to hallucinate. Usually I’m a morning person. I love waking up at dawn, when the darkness slowly begins to fade and all is quiet and serene. There is a particular tranquility at that time, which I love.

Where do you dream of travelling to and why?

I’ve travelled quite a bit, Europe, Middle East, Asia. I haven’t been to South America, which I would love to visit. But right now I’m craving somewhere tropical, sunny, clear blue waters… a Pina Colada perhaps. I’m in dire need of a vacation. Most of my travels I’ve traveled by myself. On my last trip I almost swore I wouldn’t take another trip alone. We’ll see.

Do distant places feature in your books?

Yes. Saying any more will be a spoiler!

Do you listen to music while writing?

Usually no. Rarely I do, but it has to be without lyrics. Any music with lyrics is too distracting.

Could you tell us a bit about your latest release?

Dreams of Love, published on April 13 2013, is a Book of Poems and Short Stories which all tie in together and it reads like a novel. There are 13 short stories, most of them have a Romantic theme, a few are semi-Erotic. And 19 poems, dispersed between and complimenting and following the stories.

What have you learned about writing and publishing since you first started?

The work begins after the book is written. I love the writing and publishing process. It’s what comes after, the marketing, which is an entirely different world. I’m just getting my feet wet in this area, and I thank you for the opportunity to present my work here.

Is there anything you would do differently?

I don’t think so. Of course I would be more prepared for the details of the process with the experience I’ve gained.

Who, or what, if anything has influenced your writing?

Every experience and encounter I’ve had has influenced my writing, because every encounter has changed me in some way.

Anything you would say to those just starting out in the craft?

Follow your dreams and passion. Do what you gotta’ do.

What are three words that describe you?

Love, Dreams and Passion.

What's your favourite book or who is your favourite writer?

My favorite book is “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. I enjoy reading lots of authors. The last book I read and enjoyed was the Trylle series by Amanda Hocking.

Blurb of your latest release or coming soon book

Well, I don’t have one blurb since there are numerous stories in the book. But I will say this: You’re in a for a surprise, all the way to the end. Take the journey through the Magical and Enchanting world of Dreams of Love. This book is not for the faint hearted.
