Author Interview: Jerome Brook

About the Author:

Jerome Brooke lives in the Kingdom of Siam. He is the consort of Jira - a princess of the lost Kingdom of Nan. Nan lies in the highlands north of Siam. The isolated region still has its own royal family. The blood of its ruling dynasty flows in many of its people - people who trace their families back generations into the dim past.

Jerome has written The City of the Mirage (BtGN) and many other books. He lives in Chonburi, near the Pacific coast. Jerome has two children - Jirachaya and Justin.

Jerome writes fantasy stories and books - and also is trying other genres. He prefers shorter works that might be read in a single evening. In the old days Jerry would go to the bookstore and buy paperbacks. However, a brave new world of eBooks is being born. He would read part of the book and leave it by his bed to finish. With eBooks, shorter tales work better!

Do you plan everything or just let the story flow?

I am inspired by the muse - she tells me of past ages and the wonders of our own age. Creation has a paranormal quality - with nothing planned.

Do your characters ever want to take over the story?

They tell me their histories.

What is your favourite food?

ice cream - Creme de Minte from Baskin Robbins was my favorite.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I work 24/7.

Where do you dream of travelling to and why?

I love Paris .

Do distant places feature in your books?

My books take me to the stars

Do you listen to music while writing?

no

Could you tell us a bit about your latest release?

The City of the Mirage (Books to Go Now-Amazon)

The City of the Mirage by Jerome Brooke is now on Amazon. The Divine Astarte is one of the last of her race. Her kind seeded many worlds with life. One of these realms was the planet of the Warrior.

The City of the Mirage in a dark fantasy!

Astarte is feared, not loved by her people - she is the Destroyer of Worlds. She is served by a legion of shield maidens. These cruel warriors are feared by all. They commit all manner of atrocities, such as impalement.

The people of her empire are also terrorized by the Beast Men. They are the offspring of members of an alien race and the daughters of men. They feed on human flesh.

Astarte still rules in the City of the Mirage!

What have you learned about writing and publishing since you first started?

My style has become better - I "show" rather than "tell."

Is there anything you would do differently?

I would write fiction sooner - when I was younger

Who, or what, if anything has influenced your writing?

Homer - Beowulf - The Gallic Wars (Caesar)

Anything you would say to those just starting out in the craft?

Promote your work

What are three words that describe you?

Meek - mild - submissive

What's your favourite book or who is your favourite writer?

Homer

We Call Thee

A circle of skyclad women meet on a deserted beach. In the chill of the night they circle a fire, chanting. They call on the power of the Goddess of the Moon. They embrace a man who they honor in their coven. They warm him momentarily with their naked forms. The time is the present.

Morgana leads the coven of Wise Women - with her brother Clay at her side. Clay has psychic powers, and is a famed medium. However, Estelle becomes his lover. She comes to displace Morgana and draw him away from her dark power (and the erotic rites of the Sisterhood).
Estelle visits Pompeii with Clay. There he slips into the past and hears the words of those lost when the city was destroyed. On their return Clay also senses danger for Estelle from the forces of evil.
