Guest Post & Giveaway: Falling From the Light by Regan Summers
Books and Tales Guest Post – Regan Summers – Falling from the Light Blog Tour
I get really visual when consuming books and music. I don’t read without seeing pictures, and I don’t hear songs without developing a sense of atmosphere, or even weaving a little story to follow the theme.
I’m also a highly visual writer. I have to see a scene in order to describe it. I’ll have two soundtracks while writing a book. One is the actual soundtrack I listen to while writing, which is the silence inside of noise-cancelling headphones (or, better yet, the white noise of an airplane at 35,000 feet).
The other I spend hours building and adjusting, listening to the progression of the songs as the story develops, trying to capture the right mood and the highs and lows. This isn’t a symptom of procrastination. Or, it’s not only that. It’s easy to get lost in a story and find yourself writing in circles sometimes. Music triggers memory. You know how you’ll switch on the radio or walk into a store and hear a song that throws you straight back to a certain moment? That’s the purpose of the playlist for me. I can’t listen to it while I’m writing – in part because I really like the songs so I’ll pause to take them in – but they’re perfect for getting me back on track.
This is the playlist for FALLING FROM THE LIGHT. The playlists for DON’T BITE THE MESSENGER and RUNNING IN THE DARK were fast-paced and kind of tongue in cheek. This one’s a little more varied, and a lot more vulnerable.
1. Hold On – Alabama Shakes
2. My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark – Fall Out Boy
3. Derezzed (Glitch Mob remix) – Daft Punk
4. Chandelier – Sia
5. That I do – Wye Oak
6. Madness – Muse
7. 2020 – Suuns
8. Seven Nation Army – The White Stripes
9. Arms – Christina Perri
(Please don’t show this list to Syd. She’ll be angry there’s not more metal.)

She’s unprepared and alone, but fiercely determined. If her investigation doesn’t satisfy the Master, Malcolm will pay the price. A wrong turn throws her into the middle of a vampire power play.
